PRESS RELEASE: Teachers rewarded for excellence in teaching

Legacy Charter School is a free, public charter school open to all students in Greenville County. We are a Title I school with 1350 students in grades K5–12, located on two campuses in Greenville’s West End. The elementary campus serves K5–4th grades. The Parker campus serves 5th–12th grades.

Legacy is in the heart of the Upstate’s newest story of urban renewal — a renaissance that has brought about the Greenville Drive baseball stadium, new shops, restaurants, and condominiums, and is adjacent to the nation’s top rated Main Street, city park, and Swamp Rabbit bike trail.

We believe that with a balance of challenge and support, all students will flourish. Our small class sizes of no more than 22 students provide personalized learning experiences and fulfill the Legacy vision of every child attending and graduating from college.

Instruction is delivered through technology-based educational tools such as Aquos boards, iPads, and the TI-nspire navigation system. Creativity and expression are encouraged not only in music and art classes, but also in traditional academics.

Teacher loan forgiveness — Legacy is a designated school in the Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program making teachers eligible for forgiveness of up to a combined total of $17,500 in federal loans.

State benefit package — retirement, dental, eye, and health, plus sick days transfer from most districts.

Teacher Advancement Program —TAP provides support for teacher development and career opportunities as mentors and master teachers. Teachers may earn up to $6500 in performance pay. Legacy teachers earned performance pay totalling over $196,000 in 2014.

Onsite fitness center — benefit from the care of a personal trainer in a free world-class fitness facility with classes in Zumba®, yoga, CrossFit®, TRX®, Pound®, PiYo, bootcamp and strength conditioning.
